Genre & Style

As you are able to see, the two images in which i have chosen are two album covers. The top image in black and white is Nick Jones's album cover, and the image at the bottom in yellow is Macklemore's album cover. Both looking very different but both for the same reason, Jonas cover is a lot more mature and looks as though it is aiming to target an older audience, however, looking down at Macklemore's album it looks as though it is targeting a younger audience.

Macklemore's album cover is very retro, the font of his writing in his cover is very 60s 70s style, and the background is a muggy yellow colour, almost as though someone has wiped a tea bag over it. The writing is bright and it stands out as the colour is a light blue with a style that bands would have used 40-50 years ago.

Nick Jonas's album cover is very stylish and is very modern and extremely up to date, the background is very plain and basic, not because he is lazy, but because it is just as effective as any other. if not more. he has very little software edits, only the shattering glass. This is effective as it shows complication through the breaking glass and as though he has overcome it.

Both of these albums come across as very different at first but when you think about it properly you are able to understand that they have the same meaning behind them.
They are both just trying to attract their target audience and make their album well noticed in the store when someone is looking through albums, they want to catch the audience's eye.

Digital Art ( album cover ) - ' Last Year Ws Complicated '

This is Nick Jonas album cover from 2016, the album was called ' Last Year Was Complicated ' this album included the hit single 'Jealous' which was number 1 in the charts for over 2 months. Jonas has had a total of 5 record labels including Columbia Records and Hollywood Records. His record label is Island Records, one of the most famous labels in the world, which is the record company which will have designed this album cover.
Personally, I believe that Jonas himself designed his own album cover, this is because the designer has either kept it quite the fact he designed it or Nick did it himself and hasn't said anything of it.

More than likely, the album cover its self will have been made on photoshop, this is because it is an international software which is used by hundreds of thousands each week, the only difference is that this album cover will have been a modelling shoot first and edited with photo software afterwards but at a very professional level.
